Alumni Scholarships

"Keeping the Connection"

In 1992, the Molalla Alumni Association began to dream about rallying support to establish a fund to award scholarships to students at Molalla High School to help them to further their education.  Since its inception, the growth has been phenomenal and the amount we have been able to award to outstanding seniors has far exceeded what was thought possible.  Families and organizations can have a named scholarship with a donation of at least $20,000The Molalla Alumni Association is recognized by the IRS as a 501 c (3) non-profit and the Federal Tax ID No. is 14-1925487. The Molalla Alumni Scholarship Fund is administered by a committee who has the responsibility for managing the money and choosing recipients through its process outlined in the bylaws.  The committee looks at academic prowess, community service, communication skills, organizational abilities and letters of recommendation in choosing the recipients.

The Holman Family Alumni Fund resides with the Oregon Community Foundation who manages the money and awards scholarships in concert with the Oregon Student Assistance Commission (OSAC).  The selection committee looks at academic skill, need, and evidence of persistence to make the final choices.  These scholarships are renewable.  Justice Ralph Holman, retired associate justice of the Oregon Supreme Court, class of 1931, announced the establishment of this fund at the Ninetieth Anniversary celebration of the Molalla High in 2005.  He exhorted others to do the same.

Everett Hill was a member of the class of 1943. He left money which has become the Everett Hill Memorial Scholarship Fund. This fund is managed by OSAC and currently funds are awarded in different amounts which are renewable.  Selection is based on specific criteria and awards are made by high school staff. Click here to see Everett's senior photograph.

The Donald Slaughter Molalla Alumni Scholarship Foundation was set up to benefit Molalla graduates from his estate. The criteria include academic ability, community service and general attitude. Financial need isn't necessarily considered, but students get points for holding a job, saving money and providing a budget. The scholarship can be used for college or technical training programs. Students may re-apply while in college. Donald attended MHS as a member of the class of 1949. Click here to read about Donald Slaughter

Since 1993 through various funds, we have awarded scholarships totalling more than $570,000 to over 300 students for use at college, universities and technical schools.  Because these funds are administered separately and under different guidelines, it is possible for a deserving student to receive more than one.
