Help us in our efforts to develop education and outreach through our Scholarship Programs. Alumni Scholarships: In 1992, a small group of Molalla Alumni began the dream about rallying support from Molalla Alumni to establish and fund scholarships for graduating seniors of Molalla High School to further their education. Since the first year, we have awarded over $50,000 in scholarships. All this has been accomplished without hiring a fund-raising firm or giving people the hard sell. It was all done by getting the word out to as many people as possible asking for their support. The results have been astounding. Because of the tremendous support we have been able to increase the number of recipients annually. Our organization is recognized by the IRS as a 501 c(3) Non-Profit and our Federal Tax ID No. is 14-1925487. 2007 Annual Alumni Luncheon: A very successful Alumni Luncheon was held April 28, 2007 with over 300 in attendance. The class of (?) had the most in attendance and honored as the oldest Alumni were Roberta Eyman Daniels ’31, Judge Ralph Holman ’32 and Etta Jackson Schwabauer, ’33. Joel Daniels presented the Scholarship Committee’s report and called for the ratification of the proposed bylaws and it was passed by unanimous consent. The results for Scholarship Committee members for 2007-8 are:
The committee is pleased to announce the donation of $10,000 by Dean and Ardeth Woods ‘55 to be named the Sanden-Trullinger Scholarship. With the Richard E. and Mary E Marquardt gift of $25,000 last fall, the fund is nearing $100,000. At its May meeting, the committee met with Mitch Magenheimer ‘91 to plan investment strategies when our CD comes due in June 2007. It is our intention to invest in an income-producing fund that will enable us to give out a number of scholarships each year. A plan was adopted and details can be obtained from the committee. We have received word and a partial payment from a bequest. Stay tuned for details as they become available.
The committee awarded $7,000 in scholarships this spring (see below). The committee would like to encourage you to remember the Alumni Scholarship Fund in your estate planning. It is their intention to honor any gift or bequest of $10,000 or more by establishing a fund in that person’s name and awarding a named scholarship.
