Molalla Alumni receive generous
donation for scholarship fund
By: Pioneer Staff Published: 10/28/2010
The Molalla Alumni Scholarship Foundation, which provides college and
career training scholarships for Molalla High School graduates, recently
received a $50,000 donation.
DeLane and Margaret Fry of Eugene presented the foundation with
the gift, which will allow them to create a new scholarship, said MASF
secretary Joan Deardorff. DeLane graduated from MHS with the Class of 1947.
Next spring, a new award by the name “The DeLane and Margaret Fry
Family Scholarship” will be given to a deserving senior.
The amount of the named scholarships to be given has not yet been
determined by the MASF Board of Directors. In past years, they have awarded
a total of more than $100,000 to MHS seniors and they now have five named
scholarships. Named scholarships are granted to anyone donating $10,000 or
more to MASF, a nonprofit, tax-exempt entity.

(From

class of 1961 and Byron Schriever, class of 1948, are shown at this year’s
Molalla Alumni Luncheon held April 30.
The annual Molalla Alumni Luncheon drew more than 250 attendees to the
Molalla High School Commons on April 30.
The event was open to all MHS alumni and their guests. Byron Schriever,
class of 1948 and chairman of the Alumni Board of Directors, welcomed the
group and chaired the annual business meeting.
Classes with milestone anniversaries from 30 to 80 years received special
honors and representatives from each of those classes were in attendance.
Among them was Roberta Eyman Daniels, 97, who is celebrating the 80th
anniversary of her graduation this year. The class of 1955 had the largest
group represented with 22 attendees.
Blanche Lebold Kober chaired the luncheon catered by Clarkes Grange and
expressed gratitude for all the help she received.
Joel Daniels, chair of the Molalla Alumni Scholarship Committee, reported
that the fund now has a balance in excess of $230,000 and will be awarding
$20,500 in scholarships to this year’s graduating seniors. He thanked the
alumni for their generosity to the fund over the years.

Alumni

There is a new Facebook Page devoted to FFA alumni who participated in the
Molalla chapter and all others who were involved in FFA in their own high
school. And to those who have never been involved in FFA but have an
interest in helping our current FFA youth. Find us
here!
We would also like to hear from and/or receive photos of former Molalla FFA
members to add to our
Facebook page.
