Dorothy (Gerling) Eyman Date of birth - July 3, 1920 Date of death - October 11, 1998 A memorial service will be held at Canby Christian Church, 444 N. Holly, at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 1998 for Dorothy G. Eyman, who died of cancer Oct. 11, 1998, at her Canby home. She was 78. Mrs. Eyman was born July 3, 1920, in Portland, the only child of Theodore and Cora Gerling. She attended Portland schools, graduating from Grant High School in 1938. She graduated from Oregon State College in 1944, with a degree in secretarial science. While at OSC she was active in several organizations and honoraries. She formed lifelong friendships as a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. In 1969, she received a master's degree in education from OSU. She married Steven J. Eyman on Sept. 10, 1944, and they made their home on a farm in rural Canby. A loving wife and mother to their three children, she also was an avid gardener. She taught business classes for many years at Molalla High School and also served as a counselor. She actively served the community with positions on the Rural Dell School Board, Canby Public Library and pool boards. Survivors include her husband, Steven; sons, Jon and Paul of Canby; daughter, Nancy Holden of Beaverton; granddaughters, Jennifer Bell and Christine Kromer of Canby; and three great-grandchildren. Disposition was by cremation. In lieu of flowers the family suggests remembrances to the Canby Public Library, 292 N.
